The Rare Sayings of Lil Shoyaright!
\nBy: Lil Shoyaright! (Pub. Jun. 6, 2022)
\n\n In the previous article I wrote about Twitter in a disparaging way.\n I wanna clear the record and say this: I love Twitter. As far as\n socials go, it’s my only home, my native language. But one of the\n reasons I started publishing here instead is that I think the more\n you constrain the number of characters you can use to express\n yourself, the less complex and fleshed-out your thoughts and ideas\n become in general (I think that’s why threads have become a major\n part of the Twitter vernacular). I aspire to be capable of exploring\n things deeply, because it seems to me that that’s how great things\n come about.\n
\n\n All that said, I think brevity is extremely valuable when deployed\n deliberately (i.e. not structurally mandated like on Twitter). Not\n only is it a great rhetorical device, I’d call it an artform in its\n own right. My love of words (link) is really only matched by my love\n of aphorisms.\n
\n\n So in that spirit, here go a collection of short thoughts of my own\n (cough unpublished Twitter drafts). Some are poetic, others\n straightforward. Some are irreverent, others as holy as I’m capable\n of being. They appear hidden from view, but{\" \"}\n LOOK my tech-savvy loved one,\n and you shall FIND:\n
\nWhen I change my shirt, I change my life.
\n\n The modern-day equivalent of moving the rabbit ears on the TV\n antenna is refreshing the page on an illegal sports stream that’s\n stuck buffering.\n
\n\n Some of my high school textbooks had some very good diagrams. Thank\n you, diagrams!!!{\" \"}\n
\n\n If I had written “What Does the Fox Say?” I woulda flipped the\n royalties into generational wealth!!!!!\n
\n\n The image will never mean as much as the meaning of the image.\n
\n\n If you come around me dressing like it’s the 90’s I may become angry\n and I’m very sorry about that don’t mind me.\n
\n\n I just made a killing on frozen concentrated orange-juice futures.\n
\n\n Only a fool holds strong convictions that they didn’t win\n themselves.\n
\n\n If your politics don’t result in you taking any kind of action in\n the three-dimensional world then what you actually have is\n fantasies, not politics.\n
\n\n We living in the alternate reality where Sal put some brothers on\n the wall.\n
\n\n I never mind.\n
\n I’m never unkind.\n
\n Except to myself.\n
\n What a bind!\n
\n If your net worth is less than $100k and you drive anything besides\n a Toyota or a Honda you just might be dumb as shit.\n
\nOn mommies when shit get hard I get harder
\n\n If you wake up and the elixir of life flows out your faucet, how can\n you not want that for the entire world?\n
\n\n I know our media glamorizes youth but only clowns fail to realize\n that it’s an honor to grow older.\n
\n\n If we should converse:\n
\n I will keep my ears active,
\n And keep yours precious\n
\n It’s crazy to me when people don’t take history seriously. See me\n when I show up on a planet I wanna find out wtf been going on.\n
\n\n Anger, bliss, sadness, and jubilee, are all just barriers between\n You and Me.\n
\n\n Imagine sitting on the bank of a river and finding an ounce of gold\n that washes up beside you. And now imagine putting on a wetsuit,\n goggles, and flippers, and diving into a clear blue sea. At the\n bottom of the sea you find an oyster. You glide back to the surface.\n When you crack open that oyster, you find a perfectly round pearl.\n Which is more valuable? I’ll take the pearl any day.\n
\n\n And wait wow I’m only just now realizing the connection between that\n analogy and the concept of a pearl of wisdom. I swear that was\n completely unintentional 🤯 but it fits just right.\n
\n\n But yeah naw if you were able to locate the{\" \"}\n RARE SAYINGS (hint: double tap\n or click and drag, you'll have to copy and paste on iOS because of{\" \"}\n \n {\" \"}\n this\n {\" \"}\n smh) and you see me tweet any of em in the future don’t be joe lol,\n just be proud that you saw it here first.\n
\n\n If you enjoyed this article, consider{\" \"}\n \n becoming a patron\n {\" \"}\n or making a{\" \"}\n \n one-time pledge\n \n . Support corporate journalism!\n
